Sekiro

During Microsoft’s E3 press conference, FromSoftware’s latest title, previously thought to be Tenchu; Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was revealed.

The trailer, which can be seen above, details a more Eastern setting, as well as showing off gameplay. Sekiro seems to resemble Team Ninja’s Nioh, which in itself was influenced by Dark Souls. FromSoftware have put their own spin on the game however, as animations from the Souls’ series can be seen, as well as new mechanics, such as extreme verticality via grapple hooking.

From what can be seen from the trailer, Sekiro borrows from Nioh’s samurai setting, as much as the afore mentioned game borrowed from Souls’ combat system and gameplay mechanics. It appears to follow the same formula, but in a new land with a new setting, and new, gruesome adversaries.

The game looks incredible, and is graphically superior to From’s previous works. This could be due in part to the fact that the studio has partnered with giant publisher Activision (Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, Destiny), who will be responsible for distributing the game to Xbox, as well as PlayStation and Steam.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be available on Xbox One, PS4 & PC and is slated for 2019.
