Black Ops 4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been revealed today by Treyarch, drawing back the curtain on many of the games’ features including Multiplayer, Zombies and a new Battle Royale mode.

The reveal, which kicked off with David Vonderhaar introducing Multiplayer, included many separate trailers, including three Zombies maps available on launch; IX, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead.

Black Ops 4, as can been seen from the above trailer, makes use of 100% grounded combat, and is set between the second and third games in the series. Specialists make a return in Multiplayer, with some returning such as Ruin and Seraph, and some new characters being introduced, like the medic Crash.

In an unusual development, health will no longer regenerate over time, and instead the player must make the ‘tactical’ choice to use a healing item mid gun-fight. There is also a big emphasis on weaponry, with more ways than ever before to customise your load out. Recoil has also been tweaked, and the game has been made ‘from the ground up’ on PC to enable a better experience for non-console players.

Zombies was also given its time in the sun, with three trailers, each showing off vastly different maps; such as the introduction of a new cast thrown into a gladiator arena against what seems to be an evil cult, capable of creating the undead. The second trailer had the same cast aboard the Titanic on a luxurious cruise, and finally the original cast made an appearance in a map reminiscent of Mob of the Dead.

To end the reveal of Black Ops 4 it was announced that there will be a Battle Royale mode included, called Blackout. In this mode, as is the norm with similar games, the player must navigate a large map whilst attempting to be the last one standing at the end of the game. It was also confirmed that there won’t be a traditional Campaign, but that there will be a story interwoven in Multiplayer, as well as Zombies.

Players who preorder the game will have access to the private beta, the date of which is to be announced closer to launch. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on October 12th, and more information is likely going to be shown at E3.
