More details on Resident Evil Village have been revealed, including a new story trailer and an official release date.
Resident Evil Village
Release Date: 07/05/2021
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Price: £54.99 (PlayStation Store)
Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
The game, developed by Capcom, will be a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, with players controlling Ethan Winters. Resident Evil Village is set in Romania, with returning elements from previous Resi games (Resident Evil 4 especially).
The new setting includes a gothic castle, werewolves, vampires, the return of a more classic-looking Chris Redfield, and the threatening Lady Dimitrescu (already a fan favourite villain and suspected Tyrant).
From what we know so far, the story takes place years after RE7, with Ethan stumbling across a gloomy village after a heated encounter with a now, seemingly evil Chris Redfield (possibly due to his connections to Umbrella in the previous game). The game will naturally be in first-person as a continuation of Ethan’s story, as opposed to the third-person recent remakes.
Resident Evil Village will also include Re:Verse, an online multiplayer game which pits players against each other as iconic characters from the franchise. This will be available for free as “a thank you to fans for the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series.”
The Maiden demo is now available to download and play on PS5.
