Snake returns this summer as the original 2004 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater gets a complete remake. Hey, that’s pretty good.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater takes place during the Cold War, 31 years before the events of the first Metal Gear game. You play as Naked Snake, a FOX operative tasked with rescuing a Russian rocket scientist, assassinating your former mentor, and going toe to toe with a new form of nuclear weapon.
Tactical Espionage Action
What was the ultimate jungle stealth/survival/action game has now been brought fully up to date and simply looks incredible. Players can also choose between the old legacy style of camera (overhead) and the newer 3rd person view, seen in many recent action games and survival horror titles.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater appears to be a true work of passion and love for the series, one which I am genuinely surprised that Konami has put the time and effort into. This was also evident with the recently released Silent Hill 2 remake, so here’s hoping that they continue to give their beloved games the same treatment.
The game will feature updated just about everything; from audio enhancements to life-like graphical overhauls. To go a bit deeper into the game’s setting and characters as well as what to expect I’ll let the man himself explain a bit more…
“The battle damage system has been upgraded, with the wear and tear of Snake’s clothes, as well as bruises and bullet wounds on his body, reflected in real time. Injuries will leave their mark on Snake’s body permanently, telling a story of each player’s unique journey through the game.” – Konami
Console exclusive game modes, reminiscent of the late 2000s and early 2010s are also included, with Xbox getting a Bomberman mode and PS5 receiving the classic Snake vs. Monkey mode.
