The latest installment in the long-running Call of Duty franchise is set to launch on October 28th, and is confirmed to be Modern Warfare 2 (2022).
The sequel to 2019’s soft reboot of the Modern Warfare series will include returning characters Captain John Price and Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick, as well as ‘new’ operators Simon “Ghost” Riley and John “Soap” MacTavish, and will also introduce Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas. This could lend credence to the rumours that the game is set to take place south of the border, and will focus on a war against the cartel.
Art for the game was shown yesterday featuring the above fan favourite characters. It was also revealed when the game is set to be ‘shipped’.
On top of this, more details for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 have been seemingly leaked, including a pre-order bonus that gives early access to the open beta, as well as other in-game items.
It has also been announced that Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to break the yearly release cycle, with Treyarch’s next game launching in 2024. This is likely due to Activision wanting to support titles for longer, and ensure that each game releases in a more polished state.
