Since it’s announcement in December 2023, news on upcoming survival horror game Jurassic Park: Survival has been thin on the ground. Is the game releasing sometime soon or has it gone the way of the dinosaurs?
Jurassic Park: Survival is what many fans of the book and film franchise have been wanting for years; a survival horror game set in the original park. Every part of this appeals to me, as I’m sure it will others (how long have we been waiting for a Dino Crisis remake?), and what I find to be the most interesting, aside from the fact that it will be horror and not another park builder, is the name. Jurassic Park – not Jurassic World, which not only signifies that we are going back to the nineties, but also that the tone and setting will be much darker.
“Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.”
Trouble in paradise?
Believe it or not Jurassic Park: Survival has been cancelled before. It was a completely different game made by a different studio 25 years ago, but it shares the same name and I’m a little worried that it might share the same fate if we don’t hear more from the team at Saber soon. I wouldn’t be too worried if the industry hadn’t recently been cancelling titles left and right, I just hope that my beloved Jurassic Park isn’t next on the chopping block.

The last lot of communication was during an IGN interview last summer where creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick explained the studio’s vision for the game. “Despite the terror, I came to share Hammond’s dream. I wanted it to be real, to be right there. I think millions of other people share that dream, of going back to the original ‘93 park… There are real risks for her [the player] around every corner and the player will need to use a mixture of intelligence, grit, and patience to survive the island’s many challenges.”
I’m super excited for this one so here’s hoping we see some gameplay soon, and that the park hasn’t closed it’s doors for good.
